Bluedeathvalley.com: As twin sisters, you were two of the most recognizable A&T volleyball stars in recent memory. What have you both been up to since your playing careers ended?

Darlene: We both graduated with degrees with Sports Science/Fitness Management. Since July, I’ve been working as the assistant sports information director here at A&T, alongside Brian Holloway. I’ve also tried to start a modeling career, but that is now on hold due to the fact that I’m working fulltime.

Arlene: Since my playing career ended I have become a personal trainer as well as the assistant volleyball coach here at A&T.

What’s the biggest misconception some people may have about you two?

Darlene: I’ve been told that I look unapproachable, which is not true!!

Arlene: Some people see me as being a stuck-up person until they get to know me. Once they get acquainted with me, they find that I’m very sweet and outgoing!!

What do you think is the biggest difference between you and your twin sister?

Darlene: I am way more blunt than Arlene in regards to what I say.
Arlene: Well, I would have to say the biggest difference is our appearance. Darlene is slightly taller than I am and I’m a tad bit bigger than she is.

What is the best way for someone to tell you guys apart?

Darlene: I am slightly taller than my sister and I have a mole above the left side of my lip.

Arlene: I tell people that Darlene has a beauty mole on the left side of her lip (I don’t) and a dot in the middle of her forehead. I say “D” for dot, so if they see the dot they know it’s Darlene. (laughing)

Have you ever tried to fool someone by pretending you were your sister?

Darlene: In person no, but over the phone yes. If someone called her phone and she wasn’t able to answer, I would answer for her and pretend to be her until she came to the phone.

Arlene: Yeah I sometimes fool people, but I really don’t have to pretend very hard because people can’t often tell us apart.

Do you both have similar taste in men?

Darlene: No way!!

Arlene: Well, not really. We do find some of the same men attractive, but the men I would date and the men should would date are very different.

What is the craziest pick-up line someone has ever tried to use on you?

Darlene: ‘Can I date you and your sister?’… like that would ever happen.

Arlene: I really haven’t had any lines that were too crazy, but there are some funny ones. Such as: ‘I want to thank your mother’, or ‘there must be a God because he blessed me with two of you.’

Would you ever feel comfortable asking a guy for his number?

Darlene: No, I can honestly say I wouldn’t.

Arlene: When it comes to that I think I would be too shy because I have never asked a guy for his number before. Even though I am very outgoing, a bashful side would probably appear.

Both of you are known for having great figures. How do you stay in shape?

Darlene: Well I try to eat as healthy as possible. We are also personal trainers and have to stay in shape for the clients, so we work out at least three days a week.

Arlene: I like to take care of my body and I love to work out. Working out is one of my hobbies on top of playing volleyball and basketball. I try to work out at least three times a week, but if I don’t I’ll typically play basketball just to get in my cardio.

What do you both see yourselves doing in five years?

Darlene: I see myself wanting to do a lot of things in the next five years. Hopefully I would have launched a modeling career by then, or I’ll be coaching or still working for A&T.

Arlene: Five years from now, I would love to be a head collegiate volleyball coach.

And lastly, how does it feel to both be selected an official Blue Death Valley Girls?

Darlene: My sister and I really appreciate being selected as Blue Death Valley Girls. It really gives us chance to let people know that we are both very personable young women.

Arlene: Yes, I am very excited and honored to have been selected. Thank you so much.
