Cohen Earns Offensive Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO – Freshman running back Tarik Cohen (5-8, 170, Bunn, N.C.) totaled 299 all-purpose yards against Hampton on Saturday and was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

The rookie was spectacular in the Aggies 31-26 setback to the Pirates. His 299 all-purpose yards set a freshman record as he compiled 180 yards rushing and 119 yards receiving en route to a pair of touchdowns.

He became the first Aggie freshman to rush for more than 100 yards since Barry Turner had 117 yards on 16 carries against Howard on Oct. 20, 1990. Cohen finished with 22 carries, including a 29-yard run to score A&T's first touchdown with 10:38 remaining in the second quarter. Cohen also struck again late in the third quarter with an 81-yard touchdown pass from Lewis Kindle to slice the Aggies' deficit to 28-19.

It was the fourth longest play from scrimmage in school history.  The Aggies return home next week to face Delaware State, Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m., at Aggie Stadium.
