A&T vs UNC-G Game thread

Based on your list, it looks like we are limping unprepared into another Big South season.

Ì can understand that 😆 But what I can not understand is 1. you have a 7 footer staying around on the perimeter three-point line waiting to shot a three , not trying to set a screen or anything .And then we turnaround and wonder why we got out rebounded 😆🤣😂 . 2. UNCG would pass the ball no less the 4 times or more before a shot went up , A&T 2 if we are luck 😆 3. To much 1on1 play and 3 shooting when a midrange shot is available all night . 4. Why can't Harry and the 7 footer be on the floor as a unit especially in the last moments of the game . UNCG had 2 to 3 big men on the floor in parts of the game as a unit, we had 1 . I really am trying to hold back on Coach but he continues to show me that . He has no idea or knowledge of how to coach or use big men in his system.

i disagree. i agree that an L is an L, but i don't agree that the margin does not matter. you mean to tell me that you see no difference between playing well enough to beat uncg at their house in a game that went down to the wire last night "versus" never even being in the game from beginning to end and "literally" getting embarrassed and blown out by 21 points in front of your own home crowd? you view both of those losses the same? if so, i don't understand that mentality.

and heck, i'll be honest. after taking that royal "azz whupping" last year in clubcorbett losing by "21 points" and getting "dunked on" multiple times, my mindset going into this year's game was i'd like to win the game but if we don't, PLEASE DON'T GET "BLOWN OUT AND EMBARRASSED" this year.

well, we didn't get blown out, quite the "contrary". so i was granted one of my wishes but didn't get the win. shoot unlike some of our fellow aggies, i'm friggin' "PROUD" of how our team handled themselves before a hostile crowd last night. mind you, i desperately wanted the win, but i definitely wasn't "embarrassed" at all last night like i was last year. and to me, that's the difference between last night's loss versus last year's loss. they're definitely not the same...

I just want Coach to put more guys in and see who works and where. This is not the playoffs, nor is it the league play.

To me, we will be solid, and that’s not even seeing the other guys.

quite frankly, "part of" the reason for poor shooting last night was that both teams played "OUTSTANDING" defense! folk don't hear me say that very often after an aggie basketball game but i'm a defensive "fanatic", so i "always" pay close attention to the defensive side of the ball cuz its in my dna. and "no question" both teams played "intense" defense last night, the way i like it!

when i'm watching a basketball game and the opposing team shoots the ball, i always ask myself "how difficult did we make that shot attempt"? on a scale of 10, a "zero" is leaving a shooter wide open and a 10 is a "blocked shot". an 8 or 9 is forcing somebody to change their shot in mid air because otherwise it would get "blocked".

we saw a lot of missed "put backs" last night and folk were like, "why they missing so many shots right under the basket"? well, it wasn't because guys can't make a layup. instead it was because those short range shots were intensely "contested"!

i swear, i literally luv defense and last night was a great example of how defense is supposed to be played. when i was coaching, we had a defensive motto on my team which was, "NO CLEAN LOOKS". which meant, "nobody" on the opposing team gets a clean look at the basket when shooting the ball and i saw a lot of "NO CLEAN LOOKS" last night.

overall, we shot 32% from the floor and uncg shot 37% from the floor. on the surface folk might think neither team can shoot the basketball well, but that's not why the shooting percentages were so low last night by both teams. it was low because of the "intense" defense being played by both teams.

also, folk are complaining about poor free throw shooting which "on the surface" was true. but what folk are not considering is that playing intense defense takes a "major toll" on your legs, especially when playing "man to man" which both teams played most of the night. i think both teams shot poorly from the charity stripe, "in part" because of tired legs. tired legs causes "poor shooting". if you look at the 1st half stats from last night, you'd notice that we shot a respectable 67% from the free throw line and 43% from the floor. but in the 2nd half we shot a not so respectable 53% from the free throw line and a "gawd awful" 23% from the floor.

big difference between our first half shooting versus our second half shooting, same for uncg too. and part of the reason for that was "tired legs" from playing intense defense and intense defense being played against us.

last night's game had a "march madness" intensity to it as if a lot was at stake. these are the kind of games that i luv to watch...
