Tuten Wins Football's First-Ever Big South Weekly Honor

Tuten rushed for 54 yards on seven carries against the Blue Devils.

EAST GREENSBORO – Bhaysul Tuten (5-foot-9, 191, RB, Paulsboro, N.J.) will go down as the first North Carolina A&T football player to earn a weekly honor from the Big South Conference.

The Big South named Tuten its freshman of the week after he rushed for 54 yards on seven carries in the Aggies 45-17 loss to the Duke Blue Devils on Friday.

Tuten had a 5-yard carry during the Aggies historic 20-play, 86-yard, 12-minute, eight-second drive that gave the Aggies a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. He picked up seven more yards in the second quarter as the Aggies drove 14 plays in 59 yards and chewed up 6:08 off the clock to tie the game at 14, with 58 seconds remaining in the first half.

His biggest run of the game came in the third quarter when he broke free for a 24-yard pickup that set up a 26-yard field goal from freshman Andrew Brown (5-10, 165, PK, Lexington, N.C.) that cut Duke's lead to 28-17 with 7:45 remaining in the third quarter. He had four carries for 18 yards in the fourth quarter.

Tuten and the Aggies will get this week off before hosting their home opener at Truist Stadium against archrival N.C. Central, 6 p.m., Saturday.
