Fact of the matter is that we're loaded at WR & TE. The question is whether they'll use them appropriately. I'm especially, wondering why we STILL don't use our TEs in the short passes and seams.

This...it pains me every year that we do not use our TEs more to help out in the short passing game. Those should be easy 5 yds or more gains, but so far all we want to do was run the ball with long bootleg plays which is way too predictable. The OC needs to open up the playbook.

Thank you for stating what has always been the obvious in our play calling . A&T has always misused and misplaced the value of the TE's , they are just considered an extra blocker and nothing more . Even under The Great Coach Broadway and his OC's they never properly used the TE, so this is nothing new . But what is new is that A&T has legitimate tight ends with Height ,Speed and Weight .As Sad as it is that's the way it is .

Lockhart got a bunch of targets from the TE position last year. Go back and watch the SCSU game.

Also Lockhart was a Wide receiver playing TE . We don’t use that offense. If anything, when we go 4-wide, Banks, and sometimes Leslie or Lockhart will be the guy running those “TE” routes.

The point is that we need to incorporate the TEs into the game plan, EVERY game. The upper crest defenses will figure out that if they can out number us on the line they will stack the box all game like Furman did. I would just like for us to find ways prevent teams from stacking the box. Going deep with Ron is great is when it works, but a guarantee way to move the sticks is keeping linebackers honest by having to run with our TEs. I hope we incorporate them more going forward.

I think we do try to incorporate the TE into every gameplan, but sometimes the action dictates attacking the defense in other ways.
When you have 30, Hunt, Leslie, Banks, Berkhalter, Baker and a host of other weapons, there will be times when one position group gets the short end of the stick.
What you guys are requesting is that we attack the middle of the field. Frankly, we can do that often by just throwing to the slot receiver.

Straight from the website: Again Thriller this is every now and then when it should be every game that the point I'm trying to make . The more receiving targets the more it opens up the running game .

We have to force linebackers to cover. That will open up the run. You do that by getting your RBs and TEs involved in the passing game. We now seem to have a QB that is big enough to see crossing routes and has arm enough to hit them.

I gotta say BT, at the game Saturday, I was saying the same thing about not using a tight end. We just don't exploit the middle of the field very much. Whether it be a tight end or even the running back running quick in routes, our exploiting the middle of the field was abysmal. A 5-yd completion in the middle of the field is priceless, especially on a 2nd and long or a 3rd and short. I love the long pass plays. They're gonna be available a lot during the year. Nevertheless, there will be times where we need to convert a 3rd and 5.....to me, that's "tight end time."
We've only played one game.....I'm hoping to see the TE's role evolve over time this year.

It's nothing wrong with the short end of stick but out TE are getting the short end of a Match Stick . Again it comes to knowing how to use position players. TE is not just a one Dimensional position assignment. I can say this not only from the years past or the last game at A&T has played , TE's can run any route on the route tree effectively in a system if implemented right . They should not be regulated to just middle of the hash mark/Field routes . Has A&T ever ran TE screens or do we have big target routes..i.e Jump Ball U routes. Come on Thriller you know better than that man .
