North Carolina A&T just made another big offseason move to bolster its secondary.

One month after shocking the college football world with the signing of Karon Prunty, the Aggies are now adding Mario Love Jr., a highly touted defensive back transfer from North Carolina State.

Love announced his arrival on social media yesterday.

According to sources close to the program, Love is already on campus and currently enrolled at A&T for the spring semester.

A consensus three-star prospect coming out of Hough High School in Cornelius, NC, Love received over 20 football scholarships offers. He ultimately chose the Wolfpack over the likes of Penn State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Duke.

After redshirting this past season at North Carolina State, Love announced in December that he was entering the transfer portal with four years of eligibility remaining.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 173-pounds, Love has long arms for size and is considered by scouts to have good ball skills and a high football IQ.

According to the FanNation website, he recorded 62 tackles and two interceptions during his high school career. In 2019, Love helped Hough to advance to the second round of the 4A state playoffs.

For the Aggies, Love is expected to come in and compete right away for playing time at the cornerback position. He joins Prunty, a freshman All-American cornerback from Kansas, as the second FBS transfer the Aggies have signed this offseason.

Overall, the secondary was identified as a major area of need by head coach Sam Washington, as A&T looks to revamp a pass defense that surrendered 245.8 passing yards per game in 2021.

National Signing Day will be held this year on Wednesday, February 2.
